Why We Ditched The Powder Skis And Learned To Love Groomers

We tested fat powder skis for a season and found they're overkill for most resorts. Here's how we matched skis to actual terrain and conditions.

Here's a contrarian take that will get us uninvited from ski-gear forums: the 2024-25 season was the year we stopped buying powder skis. You read that right. While every marketing email screamed about waist widths over 110mm, we were on 88-millimeter all-mountain skis, and we had one of our best seasons in years.
